Vancouver Engagement Shoot - Jenny and Riley

I love my job.  Every once in awhile, I meet a couple who are so relaxed together and have such amazing chemistry... well, they make my job very easy.  Jenny and Riley were one of those couples.  These two are the definition of young and in love.  As evidenced by the following photos...

Needless to say, I am seriously looking forward to photographing their wedding next year!  They have chosen one very cool location as well, the Jasper Park Lodge.  Stay tuned for some equally amazing wedding photos as they have LOTS of fun things in store for their very unique and fun wedding.

Looking forward to it!

Ashley and Ryan Vancouver Engagement Photo Shoot

There is a wonderful bridal salon in West Vancouver called Blush Bridal and I have had the pleasure of photographing many Blush brides over the years... I recall a conversation I had quite awhile back with Lorna, the owner of Blush who told me her daughter, Ashley had seen her friend's wedding photos I had taken and told her Mom, "that is who I want to photograph my wedding when I get married!". Here we are, many years later and guess who is engaged to be married? I was very excited to finally meet Ashley and her handsome fiance, Ryan a few weeks ago. They were in town for a visit from Washington, D.C. where they currently live and work. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other and hanging out at Lorna's beautiful home and photographing Ashley and Ryan together in the garden... before heading down to the beach for some more photos, and even a little champagne to celebrate!

Ashley, you and Ryan are adorable together and I can't WAIT to photograph your wedding next year!

Cassia and Gil - Vancouver Engagement Shoot - Richmond Tea House

Wedding season is upon us!  I'm very excited for all of my beautiful weddings this year, one of which will be Cassia and Gil's wedding later this summer.  I spent the afternoon with them this week for their engagement shoot.  April may have given us a warm and sunny taste of summer, but so far the month of May has given us plenty of rain.  When you live in Vancouver, you don't have to love the rain, but you do have to get used to it.  As a result, Cassia and Gil's engagement shoot went slightly different than we had planned, but we still had a lovely time documenting a typical day in their lives together. We started at one of their favourite restaurants in their neighbourhood in Richmond, the Leisure Tea House.  It was my first visit to a Tea House and I have to say, I loved it!  The incredible fresh fruit teas and homemade scones and even the tuna on a waffle was delicious... I'm getting hungry just remembering how yummy it was.

From there, we changed our plans of an outdoor shoot and had fun improvising under cover at their condo!  It just shows that shooting in the rain can be fun... we refused to let it ruin our day and definitely made the most of it.

Then, we moved indoors and Cassia and Gil got cozy and comfortable on the couch, snuggling together with their dogs while the rain continued outside...

Thank you, Cassia and Gil for being such good sports and having fun shooting with me on a typical, rainy Vancouver day!  You two are beautiful together and a pleasure to photograph... looking forward to your big day in August.

romantic and snowy surprise proposal!

what a wonderful way to end an awesome year!  I got the call from Roxanne at Celebrate Events just a few days before Christmas... one of her clients was up in Whistler for the holidays with family and had planned a surprise proposal... is there any way I could photograph it for them?  always a sucker for romance, how could I say no?  I drove up that morning and after meeting with Gavin and hearing his plan, we scoped out the area and I waited in the snow... it was stressful, exciting and so much fun!  and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Congratulations to Gavin and Sonal on your engagement!

And a huge THANK YOU to all of my wonderful clients who put their trust in me to capture their special day this year.  It was an honour and a pleasure and I am very grateful to each and everyone one of you... it was SUCH a great year!

All the best to everyone for a very happy holiday season filled with love and laughter!

Stefanie and William - Vancouver Wedding Photography

I had a lovely afternoon with Stefanie and William the other day... they are currently living in Hong Kong but were in Vancouver for a few days to visit family.  We met in Stanley Park and spent a few hours together taking photos around our gorgeous city and celebrated their upcoming wedding in Hong Kong.  We honestly could not have asked for better weather that day!  With the backdrop of Vancouver as our gorgeous setting, we captured a lot of beautiful moments for them to take home!

Stefanie and William, thank you for choosing me to document this special time in your lives... I wish you all the best for a fabulous and fun wedding day in November!

Pink Petal Ballet - Sweet Pea Photography

A few years ago, my daughter started pre-school... it was SUCH a cute age and I remember meeting some new moms and making some wonderful friends at the time.  one in particular, whose daughter was so adorable, I couldn't WAIT to photograph.  imagine my delight when my phone rang a few weeks later and it was her mom, Alix, asking me to photograph her!  she came by for coffee, I took a few photos and we became fast friends.  for the past 13 years we have watched our kids grow up together, shared many a family summer vacation, as well as a few martinis on the deck... and she is still one of my best friends.  not only is she a super cool chick, she was (and still is!) a very talented ballet teacher.  I remember how much I absolutely adored dressing up my daughter in her pretty pink tutu and bringing her to Alix's classes and watching her dance around.  Alix's Pink Petal Ballet classes have become very popular and a highlight of the dance community here in North Vancouver... the best part is, for the past several years, I have had the great pleasure of photographing their end of the year performance. each year, it brings tears to my eyes to see these beautiful ballerinas with their smiling faces and their INCREDIBLE (handmade by Alix!) costumes.  this year was no different... except I also had the pleasure of watching her very talented daughter, Asha Diaz sing onstage while my own daughter, Maddi helped out backstage wrangling all the adorable little ballerinas.  I couldn't have been more proud of both of them... but mainly of my best friend, Alix and the incredible person she is.

here's a few of my favourite images from this year's performance, Circus!  if the cuteness overload isn't too much for you and you want more... feel free to check out this slideshow to watch the magic for yourself.

I hope you enjoy the photos!
